Laura Su, MD

About Me

Dr. Laura Su is an Assistant Professor of Rheumatology in the Department of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. She is a practicing rheumatologist and a human immunologist. She went to MIT for her undergraduate studies, obtained MD.PhD degrees from NYU, and completed internal medicine residency, rheumatology fellowship, and postdoctoral training at Stanford. Her lab investigates how past exposures to common microbes in the environment influence human immune responses to novel pathogens. As a rheumatologist, she is also passionate about uncovering ways that immune homeostasis can become dysregulated and contribute to autoimmune diseases. Current projects in her lab focus on rheumatoid arthritis, type I diabetes, and COVID-19 vaccines. She is a NIH and VA funded investigator and a newly elected member of The American Society of Clinical Investigations.
